Everyone at Mansfield Park were deeply saddened to hear the news yesterday of the passing of Bill Berridge.

Bill grew up supporting the great Hawick sides of the 60’s and loved nothing better than talking passionately of those golden days. The original exiled Robbie Dye, Bill was delighted to be drawn to sponsor the Hawick 7’s squad for our home tournament last season, which the lads duly won, pulling Bill into the celebrations with the trophy, to capture this moment for posterity.

Speaking with Bill regularly during Hawick’s unbeaten run last season, this writer members, he could not have been happier or prouder, to see the Robbie Dyes win an unprecedented ‘invincible’ Double and regain their standing at the top of Scottish club rugby. Harking back to the great Hawick sides of the past, as he compared the spirit and togetherness of the class of 2022/23.

Everyone associated with Hawick RFC send our thoughts and deepest condolences to Bill’s family, to his Kesteven RFC family, and all the lads there that he has influenced with his canny and knowledgable manner over the years.
