The Bill McLaren Centenary Exhibition was opened to wide acclaim on Monday evening at the Museum in Wilton Lodge Park. Amongst many fascinating exhibits, visitors are able to commentate on Tony Stanger’s Grand-Slam-winning try from 1990. The image attached shows Linda Lawson, Bill’s daughter, trying to emulate her dad in the interactive commentary booth. In preparing for the exhibition the curators found Tony Stanger’s 50th cap, still in its wrapping, in a Murrayfield cupboard. Mysteriously the cap was never presented to Tony. This was put right on Monday evening, when Andy Irvine kindly opened the exhibition and duly presented a surprised and delighted Tony with the cap. Please make a point of getting to the exhibition, it is a tribute to the great man, and also a tremendous piece of social history. 🏉💚
