On a rain sodden pitch and with a steady downpour continuing for most of the match, Hawick went about the job in hand at Riverside Park yesterday coming away with the bonus point win they craved, and backing up their performance of the previous week, defending solidly and attacking clinically. A depleted Jed stuck gamely to the task throughout but against a focused Greens side it was always going to be a long day.

Jed were quick out of the blocks and Hawick had to be on their metal for the first 10 minutes of the game as the Riverside men pressed the Hawick line looking for an opening. The Greens however were up to the task, and after defending as one, they worked the ball up the park and broke the deadlock with a quick fire double. Although continuing to give their all in the contact, Jed found the pressure too much as Hawick scored regularly to close the first half 33-0 up.

The Hawick coaches will ultimately be very pleased with this performance, as the Greens didn’t sit back in the second half and kept their focus scoring a further 28 points running out winners 61-0. Their were some excellent performances throughout this young Greens side, with a real maturity being shown by the young guns, who have grown on stature throughout last seasons tremendous campaign. Next week Hawick welcome an in form Musselburgh side to Mansfield Park, so it’s back to the training ground on Tuesday, with everyone competing for positions……….just as it should be😉💚🏉
