It’s been a very powerful and emotional few days as we said goodbye to a very dear friend to us all. The Oliver family showed an incredibly inner strength throughout, greeting more than 1000 people, paying their respects on Thursday afternoon at the chapel of rest , then yesterday at a packed memorial service. Following the service, all the congregation lined the road to the hearse, from the church doors where the lads of Munster Youth stood heads bowed, to our Hawick contingent in their Green blazers and ties, given the honour of being asked to stand as a guard of honour at the hearse as Derek, Jack and the boys carried Greig’s coffin shoulder high.
The coffin was wrapped in four flags…. those of Munster Rugby, the Star of Garryowen, the Saltire and the Hawick flag, topped by a beautiful bouquet of blue and white.
A hugely emotional day, to say farewell to one of the very best. It was a honour of the highest order to be able to attend as dear friends and also to be there on behalf of everyone associated with Hawick RFC over the years. Farewell Robbie Dye. 🏉💚
